Unoma Okorafor Ph.D. – Founder & CEO
Born in Nigeria, Dr. Unoma Okorafor obtained her Master’s degree from Rice University and her Ph.D. from Texas A & M University, both in Computer Engineering. Prior to founding Herbal Papaya & Papaya Passion, Dr. Okorafor worked as a software engineer and technical lead at the Education Technology Division of Texas Instruments. She has also worked in leading research labs including Intel, Hewlett Packard and IBM. Unoma enjoys working on creative ideas and applying her software knowledge to implement highly efﬁcient and innovative processes and systems at Papaya Passion. A 2013 recipient of the Anita Borg Institute Change Agent Award, a graduate of INSEAD and Stanford University’s Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship, Dr. Okorafor is a passionate social entrepreneur and founder of the 501(c) non-proﬁt Working to Advance African Women (WAAW) Foundation, which promotes STEM education for girls in Africa. She is passionate about healthy living and sharing her great love for papaya with people everywhere.
Lorraine Cook – Customer Care Manager
Lorraine brings over 25 years of sales and customer service experience to bear at Papaya Passion. She is extremely passionate about connecting with people and building lasting relationships. Lorraine began her career with Associated Medical Products as a customer service manager before moving on to Experian Corporation, where she worked for over 20 years as a senior account manager. In her starting role Lorraine was a on the sales and support team managing several categories of accounts. As a senior account manager she oversaw major accounts including Ford, Toyota, Chase, Bank of America, Neiman Marcus and JC Penney. Prior to Papaya Passion, Lorraine was customer relations consultant, providing training to increase revenue for partner organizations. She has completed several high-level sales professional courses. Lorraine says, “By employing our creativity, challenging assumptions and constantly listening to our customers, we are helping to define the future of effective herbal remedies in the market place. I love to personally connect with customers and enjoy hearing their testimonials about how our products are helping them, and their feedback on what we can do better. I’m here to see things from the customers perspective. I always tell them, I am first and foremost on their side.”
Mimi McFadden – Media & Marketing Manager
Originally from California, Mimi is a competent social media guru, marketing strategist, and writer who loves to travel. After acquiring her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and international studies from UC San Diego, she worked for one of the top-tier event planning companies in San Diego, and was the head of marketing as a bar manager abroad in Wellington, New Zealand. When she is not working for Papaya Passion, she’s adventuring in other countries and managing her marketing business & professional travel blog. Besides staying up on the latest social media and SEO trends, Mimi is an avid yogi, healthy eater, and smoothie bowl enthusiast who loves everything to do with a well balanced lifestyle. As a member of the Papaya Passion team, Mimi hopes to find great brand and blog partnerships, promote the Papaya Passion name in a positive way, and make some great connections in the process.
Jessica Boyster- Product & Supply Chain Manager
Born in California, Jessica graduated high school in 3 years, and went on to get her Bachelors degree, legal assistant certification, medical transcription diploma, and many other professional training’s. She taught cardio-kickboxing, Pilates, and yoga for over 10 years, and is certified as a personal trainer. While sharing the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle through her teaching is a passion, Jessica has worked full time for high-profile entities as their Administrative Director, with duties including all areas of HR, budgeting, spokesperson, media director, and in-depth legal review. Customer service and company appearance is not just a forte, but the key point of her focus. As a visionary she brings creative ideas to the Papaya Passion product line in hopes to improve customer satisfaction, company image, and a healthier customer lifestyle. Marissa Pedersen– Media & Marketing Associate
Born in Texas, Marissa has always been interested in health and fitness. She played a variety of sports all through high school, including soccer and cross-country. In college, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, where she went on to become a personal trainer. While she loved helping people get in shape and feel their best, she had an urge to continue more schooling. She back to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant and got certified through the Washington State boards. In her free time, she loves to travel the world and write about her journeys on her travel blog. Finding ways to stay active and discover outdoor activities in different countries is one of her passions. Marissa is excited to bring her social media and marketing skills to Papaya Passion and help grow the company.
Katrina Phillips – Graphic Design & Marketing Associate
Katrina is from a small town in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Graphic Design. After a year of contract and freelance design work, she found Herbal Papaya & Papaya Passion. She was initially drawn to the company because she has a passion to live a healthy and well balanced lifestyle. Katrina says, “I absolutely love the idea that I get to use my creativity to help promote a company that not only strives for health and wellness, but has such amazing values. What a neat thing to be a part of.” When she isn’t designing, she is using her creativity in the kitchen, practicing yoga, working in her garden, or spending time with her family.
Tammy Lawrence – Sales Associate
Tammy was born, raised, educated and resides on the small Caribbean island called Jamaica. Tammy graduated with a Bachelors of Science with Honors in Food Service management. Tammy has been working in the local hospitality industry for the past thirteen years. She has a love for nature and the outdoors. She has volunteered in several beach clean up projects to secure the environment for the future generations. Now, as a young mother of two, she aspires to feed and teach her children the natural, organic, and healthy way to live.
